When I first looked at these two pictures (two different trips to a botanical garden on my lunch hour this month), I thought they were pretty good. However, I came over here, looked at the recent postings and went "wow!" But this time instead of being intimidated to the point of not posting (what I've always done in the past), I figure that I'd give it a try to see what others think - my perspective is always skewed when it comes to my own stuff. Please let me know what you think I did right or wrong with them.

#1 is a publication-worthy shot, imo.

#2 is lovely.

Thanks for the feedback/complement! It's sometimes hard for me to figure out whether what I take is good or just something that appeals to me for some reason.

Ah, but both are valid reasons for taking the shots...

Thanks again for the comments.

I agree that taking pictures that just appeal to me is always a good excuse, and I often like pictures that might be "photographically" flawed. I'm also starting to get much pickier about my own pictures as I improve and so lose perspective. Besides, most of the pictures I've seen here are really awesome!

mtngal, these photos are very good. never be afraid to post your photos. i too suffer from being over critical of my images....but have learned alot of things from everyone who posts comments on them and have used those comments to improve.

Thanks for sharing and keep posting.

mtngal

These are two technically and artistically great pictures, by any objective standard.

The bee. Great detail, composition and set of colours

The flower. This picture shines. Is there anything they wouldn´t do to get attention? (smile) It looks like a dance performer standing in the spotlight (stagelight?)

Fantastic light. Great pictures both of them

This close-up section really lives up in spring and summer (and I suppose fall too)
