Default First Flower Attempt

This is my first attempt with the Canon S50 and the Crystal Vue Lens. This shot was taken about 9 feet from the flower. I was inside the house about 4 feet, and took the shot through a sliding glass door, *lol*. The pic was shot in RAW, and not altered in anyway, except for being zoomed down from 31% to 25% in my Zoombrowser Software.

I am not sure if the background is black because of the lens, or because I was inside. I think it looks cool though.

Any thoughts, much appreciated.

i like it. with a bit of editting it would be really nice. only one thing, it's not in focus due to the glass doors maybe??

I don't know, it could have been the door, or maybe I did not focus it well enough. It looked almost focused to me, I mean you can see a lot of detail, but it is missing that 'crispness'. I have to get used to foucsing the camera in sync with the lens. The black background does not ruin it? I thought it would? I mean, I like it, but photgraphy wise, I thought it was not right. Thanks for your input.

Thanks, I'll work on it. The Canon software is not so hot. I hope I can get something better soon, like maybe Adobe Elements. Plus, I definitely have to take better pics to begin with, *lol*.

If anyone looks, please look at the "large" version at the site. The original is pretty huge and not as nice.
