Hi again Dan,

I assume you are using the onboard macro facility of the FZ30 ... results look quite good. I'll look forward to seeing more shots in the future ... Jack

Well yes I did use the Macro AF, however to be honest I tried variations of MAF, AF, and MF, and could not find my focusable distance to be any different between the 3. I can get equally close and still focus with all 3. (close enough to hit my UV filter) but other then that I used the standard manual mode.

Thank you both for your compliments I'm mainly here for the shootouts because I like to have a vague target. Although it seems alot of people are just posting images that aren't their photographs lol.

Dan the reason I asked this is ... before I had the DSLR I used a HP Photosmart 850, I found I got better results with macros to ignore the onboard macro setting ... instead I used various supplementary lenses (Dioptres)and also used the camera 8X optical zoom, this allowed me better magnification, and also I was able to stay further away from my subjects, essential with insects especially if they sting. LOL ... I think I've tried all the ways to achieve macro shots. ... Jack.
