On my wildflower trek yesterday I came upon a small number of relatively rare, for this area, BitterRoot flowers. Here are some shots.

Hi smac - We often see these on rocky mountains tops here in Washington state. They were actually discovered by Lewis and Clark on there expedition out here. They arealso called a Rock Rose, I guess because they are often found in rocky ground, but I call them Bitterroot, like you. The Indians like to dig and eat the roots they produce. They sure are pretty - Bruce
