Two closeups
First, meet Spike.

I saw this fellow when a little butterfly I was following landed on this flower and just barely got airborne again. I wanted to see what had scared him so badly...
200 Micro @ f/11

Second... a friendly cookie:
60 Micro @ f/8
(Hibiscus = Hi Biscuit = friendly cookie -- you knew I was a strange fellow, didn't you? :))

Definitely a good reason to get out of Dodge. Cool colors, and one big spider.

Friendly Cookie, maybe your starting to loose it. But until they slip on the strait jacket keep taking great photos.:P

Well, that was a fairly small daisy -- this was shot at 1:1 on the 200 Micro, and after a 50% resize it's still about 10x the size on my screen at 1280x960 as the actual spider was.

Brooks, I lost my marbles long, long ago :)

Brooks Jul 29, 2002 2:33 PM

So its an itsy bitsy teeny MEANY spider?

Your not alone Ron (lost marbles).:P

RonReznick Jul 29, 2002 4:00 PM

Definitely -- I wouldn't want to run into one of those at the same relative size ratio as that butterfly even in a brightly-lit alley [chuckle].

I can live without my marbles. Quite well, AAMOF ;)

Wow.... neet pictures... but I have a question: Quote "I was following landed on this flower and just barely got airborne again"....

Now how the heck did you do that?

RonReznick Jul 30, 2002 3:44 AM

Malcolm, I probably should have used the word "which" after butterfly:

"...when a little butterfly *which* I was following..."

Psst Sharp avatar. Cool hat.

Love the SPider!
What a beautiful picture! The spider is amazing...I have never seen one like that around here.

RonReznick Jul 31, 2002 2:06 AM

That hat really is comfortable (totally vented around the head but with a solid top). It's my field hat and I love it.

That is the first time I've ever seen a spider like that myself... I'm going to keep my eyes open for another one.
