The photo of the checkering on the walnut gunstock was beautiful. I don't have them anymore, but once I had several fine L.C. Smiths and Foxes, all doubles,in various grades and bores. The picture really brought back memories. I suspect that checkering is a lost art, albeit a beauiful one. The meral engraving never caught my fancy, but the woodwork did.
