Default Mommy and Baby Star Fish

I took this photo at Skookumchuck Narrows in Egmont BC on the Sunshine Coast. I really like the picture but I would like the purple star fish to "pop" a little more. What post possessing techniques could I use to do this?

To my surprise I had a hard time adjusting this image. For one thing, the conversion to web pictures really loses more color than I am used to. I made one image, expecially for the Web, and even That image looks washed out.

But briefly, I used the curves option to darken the lighter areas, then used the curves option to darken the entire image, and finally increased contrast.

For this web shot, I also increased color saturation, but that is a no no for judging this picture...

I have no doubt that some of the Image processing people on this board can do better - Nice (and cute) shot!
