Nice series, like nr5 and nr6 best.

Guess I would have wanted a bit more dof with nr6 so that the beetle would be completely in focus. But... it's always easy to comment .

dunno how much help it might be to you, and not sure what setup your using, but i had similar results when i was using my reversed lense. i set my f to as low as possible, as i thought ud need more light working lower to the ground (more shadows and less light getting to the lense etc) but since then ive read some articles from a couple of people and have deduced that f8 is a good one to use. well def if your using a flash anyway

basically the lower the aperture (lower f numbers) the less dof you will see in your pics. (well thats my understanding of it)
