Default Terrestrial beings

Two weekends ago we camped at Cathedral Rock National Park where we were very pleased to find patches of terrestrial Greenhood Orchids [Pterostylis torquata]. We'd seen them in native flower books but never before 'in the flesh' as it were.

Bernice,

Fantastic pictures, erasing the border between the kingdoms. People are plants are animals are minerals are .....

Enormous imagery. Revenge of the plants. (You know, plants, especially orchids are supposed to be ..... but these are ....)

Great. Plant power! They'll meet on saturday at the Square for a rally against ...

As if people have a greater value. That is not the case. They do not.

Thank you Torgny and banksy. The small woodland native orchids have several species which differ from the fragile beauty we often associate with the species. I posted some shots of Donkey Orchids a few weeks ago at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/cl...y-orchids.html Not as 'alien' looking as the greenhood orchids, but still 'different'. The'petals' are thick and succulent. Good wallaby tucker!

Your comments are appreciated.

...I love orchids...

Thank you for sharing... The orchid looks like a mix between a jack in the pulpit and a masdevallia (of some sort)

Yes, orchids are something special ...

I didn't know the two plants you mentioned so had to google them. I agree, the greenhoods do look like a cross between those.

Thank you for your comments.
