Nice shots wk7leung! I know these as African Violets as well and violas as a different plant, as noted in Wikipaedia at <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saintpaulia> - but as we know, different parts of the world, even different parts of the same country have similar common names for a variety of plants (birds too).

I like these pics.

I got this from Answers.com about the viola:
A plant of the genus Viola, which includes the violets and pansies, especially a variety having flowers resembling violets in size and shape and pansies in coloration.
I think it is okay both to say that it is a violet or a viola. The one I am shooting is not that purple in color as the one in the African violet. It is pinkish purple.
