Default Last evening

I was wandering around my yard last evening just as the sun started to set and I spotted this rose in what I thought was a perfect setting:

Good composition and DOF! I like the red against the blue background.

Thank you so very much! The blue sky being filtered through our Pie Cherry Tree definitely helps bring the photo colors to life. I took quite a few photos from different angles to come up with this photo. I think my neighbors think I am Nuts!

The Golden Hour at sunset has quickly become a time I will have my camera out and ready for photographing!

I think everyone who sees photographers in action, thinks they're nuts! But, it's our willingness to do abnormal things to get the shot that makes the difference between a mundane and great photograph. Let them think you're crazy; it means you're doing it right.

With all the trees we have around here, I have very limited opportunities to shoot in the golden hour. However, there is a period of a few minutes, where the sun is shining on some tall grass we have in the yard. I'm thinking of having a go at it...

Jeannie,
by all means go for it girl! Our back yard is almost completely filled with fruit trees (some of the Bing Cherry trees are about 40 feet tall). This rose is in a pot that we keep moving around. It just so happened I had mowed the lawn yesterday and when I got done I just set it out under the Pie Cherry Tree. I never even thought about where I placed it until I saw it later in the evening just glowing for all it was worth. I was compelled by it's beauty to take the photos!

I got about 6 shots before the Golden Hour of lighting had changed, so I was extremely Lucky to get the photos!

If you don't take the time and effort to try to take that Golden Hour photo you will always kick yourself for not doing so!
