Default Praying Mantis

I was doing some work in the yard and my water hose flushed this guy out. I've never seen one with the belly turned up like this. Does anyone know if that is a typical pose, or is this a breed that is shaped like this all the time? With FZ35+LC55.

Thank you banksy, square one and Ronny! I often see green or brown ones with skinny, straight abdomen but never one like this. It was cool.

That second shot is really great, they have such character. I'm a notorious anthropomorphist, but he totally reminds me of Groucho Marx just after he's delivered a suggestive punch line. He wasn't by chance waggling his antennae up and down was he? lol

Thanks Bil, yup, definitely had an attitude! He/she was really more menacing looking than funny though...was not very happy about being sprayed by water.

Diane, I've been out of town for a couple of weeks. Please take a look at my night shots. Not nearly as good as yours, still trying to get the settings right... All suggestions are welcomed!!
