Default Frogs

Last weekend we went 'frogging' at night with our torches and cameras. We'd never done this before and it was quite the challenge on several fronts 1) taking pics at night, 2) finding the exact location of the croaking and 3) learning where to hold the torch for best illumination.

Apparently these frogs are all of the tree frog genus Litoria even the tiny little ones which spend a lot of their time sitting on the lily-pads in the dam.

# 1 Freckled leaf tree frog [Litoria piperata] 30 mm

# 2

# 3

# 4

# 5

# 6 Peron's tree frog [Litoria peronii] 50 mm can change colour rapidly

# 7

# 8

# 9 Green reed frog/Dwarf tree frog [Litoria fallax] 25 mm camouflaged!

# 10

# 11

Thank you for joining us 'out frogging'.

Bernice
PS: willing to be corrected on the identifications (thought birds were hard enough!)

Great series of frog shots Bernice. Must have been quite the adventure searching for these guys at night.

Terrific series Bernice! Do you have to deal with many bugs when you go frogging??

thanks jj & saly. It was great fun and we were very lucky in that there were no bugs flying about - particularly NO mossies!

Glad you liked the pics.
