Default Using the Canon-250D Close-up lens on your big-zoom main lens

G'day all

Regulars here will know of my love for superzoom / bridge cameras and their wonderful zoom lenses, but they - like dSLRs have issues when doing closeup work. So I use the Canon 250D close up lens as it is far superior to everyday close up lenses sold by other mobs, and definitely better than internet cheapies will ever be

The 250D costs around $us75, it is a 2-element optic, of +4-dioptre optical strength, giving it a focus distance of 1/4-metre [10-inches] between the lens itself and the subject. If your lens has internal zoom, this distance does not change even as you zoom the camera lens to alter the image magnification, however with many lenses as the zoom lens itself moves outwards, the camera needs to move backwards to reset the 1/4-metre distance. Therefore a focus rail to attach the camera to the tripod becomes most useful

Here's some sample images showing what you can do with the 250D attached to your 100-300 dSLR lens.

1) The target flower - using the 18-55 lens at around 30mm

2) the big zoom at about 100mm

3) the big zoom at about 200mm

4) the big zoom at about 300mm

Remember - all the above images are shot with a lens-to-subject disance of 1/4-metre / 10-inches or thereabouts

As always, feedback welcome
