This is the one time I have not been stung
& this would have been the best reason to sting me.

I only took about 50 pics over an hour.
They continued for long after that.
What stamina. :-D

Olympus Camedia C-2000Z (2.1 megapix) was all I had unfortunately.
Has very usefully macro though.
Slightly sharpened & tweaked yellows - increased saturation. All in PS.

In the middle of a small town square outside Madrid.
Exhibitionists!

I think they had other things on their mind.:-) I never been stung and hope never to find out what it feels like. I hate wasps.

Great photo though. I love the bright yellow and the orange veins on the wings.

You are right to be scared of getting stung. They do get frightened & panic attack.
What I think they understand, is that the lens is a big eye of some predator.
After about 5 hand stings, if you make the decision to stick around, they stop & just buzz around with curiosity.
But it is bloody painful holding a camera. That's what I call, "Suffering for my art".
Yes, unlike a bee, it seems they are capable of multiply stings.

And no, I don't usually stick around! Twice was enough.

Actually discodudette, good idea. :-D

Yeah, when bees sting they lose their stinger and die. Wasps don't and just keep on going.
