I wasn't sure where to ask this. I thought the tips and tricks forum might be the right place, but it relates to this forum just as much.

Some of you may remember Sergio's posts in the Weekly Challenge Forum where he froze a cherry. I want to do something similar, but different. I will need the water to be clear to, without cracks and no white parts. I'm going to need distilled water aren't I? I know how to do this with steam, I just don't have the tools that I need to do it. Isn't ice from the freezer distilled water when defrosted to? You use it when topping up a car battery.

Has anyone got tips or advice for getting the water clear? I gave it a go with boiled water to see if it would improve things but it's almost the same as if it was normal tap water.
