Although the elements of a professional add are there, I don't think it looks like one. You've got one font at the bottom covering the item. A different font on the left which is distracting. Then you have another font in the top right. That one is fine.

The first thing that I saw when the image loaded was the large Hemp text, then the Necklace & Bracelets text (which is a bit tough to read) then necklace itself. I think there is too much going on. You can't see the necklace itself either, just the beads. I don't know if that is important or not for this product, but as a buyer I'd prefer a bigger dof. I have to say though, I've seen much worse in magazines and online.

This is just my opinion on this particular shot Vito. Please take it as a critique and not criticism.

Simply put: The product is not in focus.

thanks for your comments....this was just something to do because i was bored, and i wanted to try the "curved paper" technique..

i'll try it again, with larger DOF, so you can see the actual hemp (lol good point about that...lol)

well, thanks again for your comments...

I don't know...

Kind of like it the way it is: The focus is on the decorative part which is good if you want to sell it and not emphasize the 'stringy' part (which you want to hide)

-> May be move the bottom lettering "Necklaces + Bracelets" out of the way (while keeping the other ones where they are) and downward so that the focus point is toward the center 2/3 of the picture...

well, i cropped it so tight, because i wasn't exactly planning on the ad while i was shooting...

but when i thought i'd do it, i wanted the ration to be more wide than tall...

i'll redo it with your ideas...and see wat i come up with

Just for grins, maybe you could experiment with a different textured and colored background. The hemp is has a strong rough texture, and the beads have a smooth wood surface. Maybe a solid navy blue wool or even a colored piece of construction paper.

It will also make your text easier to see.

I like it the way it is, maybe a different background.

Not all images have to be in focus front to back, selective focus is a good way to draw attention to a particular feature.

:G:G:GI am a hold-out from the 60's (at least I think I attended them) and that is not what I thought your image was going to be of :G:G:G
