Not an excellent pic, it lacks flowers and colorfull things, however I was quite impressed with ability of the 20D with a non-macro lense -[100-400] shooting at 3200 iso

Tell us more about the photograph. Was this night time or black background?

the pic was taken yesterday morning in full early morningsunlight with a shadowy area behind it. I have found that the 20D/100-400 combo in certain instances can highlight a "highlight" and really darken shadow areas [sometimes a good thing, sometimesnot so good] The bee was slightly overexposed, and I adjusted the Raw image exposure down a bit. Because of the high iso3200, the dark shadowwas a bit grainy, so I used color range select in PS, selected the black shadows and used the level adjustment to darken it further which got ridof thegrain. Sounds complicated, but really was a quick operation and worked out OK.
