taken with a 300d using the standard lens that comes in the 300d kit. Got REAL close to the subject and used manual focus. The pics been cropped a lot so it'll load quicker

Nice shot. I would suggest a portrait crop rather than landscape so the front legs are not cut off.

idea of the shot was to get the web in and as much detail of the spinnerets and the abdomen "insignia" as possible. I didn't shoot the frontlegs on purpose. my face was about 20cm (~ 8 inches for you non-metric ppl ) away from the spider....no macro lens used here...
