Still a bit early in the year for these, I hope to have some better ones soon.

Starting off with a lesser butterfly orchid, these are just plain weird:

And this one I think is a common spotted orchid, though it looks to have hybridised with some of the marsh orchids that are around here, crazy orchid sex I guess :-)

Very nice shots. I think most people assume that orchids are strictly tropical plants/flowers, but we have several that grow here in Minnesota where winters are quite severe. In fact, our state flower is an orchid.

I like both pictures you took. Excellent framing, metering and colour renditioning. The Chinese like orchids very much and they pay a lot of money for those potted ones that have the bilateral flowers so spaced out as to be one in front of the other so that they do not overlap when viewed from the side. The flowers last long and there are also quite some buds on the branch that add to thepleasure of viewing as they blossom. Orchid shooting is a great fun.
