Like I said, I think I'm going to continue using Faststone and Photoshop Elements 2 via Wine....

You may want to look into DigiKam. It's excellent stuff.

Thanks for the reference to DigiKam - I've downloaded it & it's quite interesting. Have you tried gthumb? I've found it quite useful.
