I recieved my Olympus Stylus 820 today. I used your reviews and info I was able to get on this forum to choose bvetween several differnet weatherproof cameras (as a backup camera) and your info was very helpful as was Sara Joyce'sas well.

I would like to note one major difference between the info in your hands on review and what the camera does. Looks like a firmware uopdate was made to my camera since your review.

The video function now records 640 x 480 to the capacity of the card. Even in the manual they shipped with the camera it states 15 seconds at 640x480. I only was able to test with 1GB card. I do not know how to tell what version of firmware is installed but looks like they updated since your review (similar to the recent post oon the SW1030 camera)

Thanks for the really great site.

Thank you for the info, you may have noticed the post about the 1030SW of Olymppus', looks like the same firmware upgrade. We will take a look at it and update our review.

Yes I noticed the post on the 1030SW. I mentioned that in my past post at the very end. I just wanted to let you know that the 820 had a firmware update or at least update of the video mode length as well.

Also I did a test with the video mode on the Olympus Stylus 820 and you can get movies up to 29minutes on a 1GB card (highest movie setting).

Keep up the great work

hm, i have firmware 1.0 and can't record 640x480 to the capacity of the card. On olympus pages they updates fm for mju 830 and in the changelog is this feature! But no new fw for 820!
