I visit several web sites each day and for all intents and purposes, they load very quickly, 1 to 3 seconds.

Steve's however sometimes takes 15-20 secs and on occassion even longer.
Also, while on the site, most of the forum links load very slow.

Is it just me?

For me, it seems to be time dependent. Late evening is certainly very slow. I get delays in accessing links here that are really annoying 10-20 seconds to get onto one of the forums.

Our traffic is up quite a bit right now due to CES 2009, so that combined with net congestion is likely causing the slow page load times you are seeing.

I'll keep an eye on it though.

Thanks!

Hi Billy,

It is true I've found it quite a bit recently. I will try to record times and let you know.

Thanks,

Mark

Just tell folk to relax a bit and wait! Slow down! Calm! It'll be good for everyone. It's worth the wait, for a wonderful site like this, in these straitened times.

Not only has it been slow, but I've noticed some posts disappearing!

I'm just comparing to the various other sites I visit and this is one of the slowest to load and slowest responses.

I, too, have noticed the lengthening load times. Here's the text from the bottom of the page to load the reply form on this forum: Page processed in 17.7701 seconds (98% database + 2% PHP). 22 queries executed. 17 seconds! Mind you that's only how long it took the software to process the page, not send it over to the user.

I feel that this slow loading is really causing the forum to lose potential community members. I have found myself ditching the forum for another camera forum after waiting at least 5 seconds for it to load. 5 seconds may seem short, but all the other forums I visit start to load before 5 seconds.

I hope the backend can be sped up, because I don't want to leave this forum.

And I noticed the slowdown long before CES 2009. I started to become concerned back in November, but said nothing about it. The slowdown has seemed to worsen lately, probably due to CES like the moderators said.

Here's the load time from trying to load this reply form: Page processed in 19.7585 seconds (99% database + 1% PHP). 22 queries executed.

I'm on a very solid broadband connection, and to me these load times are ridiculous. This is a free forum, so my complaints don't mean a thing. But I truly feel that it is definitely hindering the community from gaining new members and turning off current ones.
