This is a composite of 2 pictures taken within an hour of eachother with an Olympus 8080. The ruins and everything but the sky are one shot, darkened with levels in Photoshop. The sky was taken about an hour earlier. My question is: Is it believeable or over the top?

It is believable. It looks slightly odd. I don't know why. But then lots of photos which are really and along these lines give me the same feeling. If anything, you could add some of the sky colour to the rocks. At the moment the sky is mainly purple but the rocks are orange. Surely they'd have some purple to?

Thanks for the feedback Vito and Ferny. The original ruins picture had a simple blue sky and was taken just after the sun came over the horizon, which is the reason for the heavy shadows. I think the lack of purple color that Ferny pointed out and the heavy shadow are what make it look strange to me. Hopefully one of these days I'll get a better feel for what can pass for real and what can't.

:|Having visited DV a number of times this GREAT pix is not over the top!
It is rather otherworldly, but so is Death Valley. I really like it. JaToK |
