I am starting a business where I will be shooting pics at dog agility competitions andtaking orders for prints (I will show them thepictures on my laptop). I was wondering what will it cost me to make pictures right there on a dye sub printer. I have seen the printers for less then $200 but I'm looking for for a materials cost. I'm sellinga 4x6 for $6.00. Maybe I can add something for giving them the picture right away. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to do a similar thing for an upcoming wedding. I plan to purchase the Kodak Pro 1400 ($500). A little more pricy, but it will do up to 8x12. It will also require that I have my laptop on the site. The "picture packs" include the ribbon and paper for 25, 50, or 200 photos. The 200 pack costs just a little over $300 so that would calculate to a cost of about $1.50 per 8x12. I'm planning to charge $8. I would have gone with something smaller but the bride wanted to be able to provide 8x10s to family and friends that have to travel a long ways to the wedding. I can see now that this might turn into a great process for othre types of events in the future so I don't mind the $500 investment.

Good luck with your venture.
