HITI 640PS or Canon i950 with use on Apple G5
Hello all! I am in the market for a printer that will work well with my inbound Apple G5 OS. I am worried about compatability issues. The HITI-640PS and the Canon i950 both have great reviews. Is it common to have two seperate printers (one for doc's etc. and other for photo's)? If the i950 Is as good as photo print quality from the 640PS I will just opt for the i950 instead.
Also the Multifunction "Canon's MultiPass 700" would be great also. Even though its not compact it does have more functions.
Bottom line is that my wife does not want to lose/sacrifice print quality in photos.

Additional info: I will be using a Canon G3 Digi Cam.
And the printer will be for anything thats commonly done in most homes.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

The HiTi 640ps does not have drivers for the Apple computers. Check their web site to verify:

HiTi 640PS Mac Driver
Hi Jack & gibsonpd3620...

In fact, there is Mac driver for HiTi 640PS. Although it's a beta version but it works.

I saw that they had released a beta version for the MAC. Now the MAC folks will get to use this grea printer.

I have a 640 PS attached to a 17" iMac running OS 10.2.5. I have been using the Beta version of the driver software since July and haven't had any problems with the 200+ pictures that I have printed. People see my diving pictures in my classroom and are amazed that they have come from a Sony P8! This is an amazingly sharp and quick printer.

I am upgrading to Panther soon. I do not expect any problems with the software.

Best of Luck!

I do use two printers. I have an HP photo printer that I use to print sizes that I can not print with 630/640ps. I also use that printer for my other printing requirements. Have you looked at the i960?
