Default Oh No! Newbie With A dyesub Question

Ok, Don't freak if this is an obvious question but since the Olympus P400 has a 314 dpi does that mean the best setting for my images is 314 dpi? I was a little confused by the review and the comment about dye-sub dpi being different than ink jet dpi. Any input is appreciated.

Yes, but it is not as bad as it seems. With ink-jets, the printers use
very small dots of cyan, magenta and yellow to fool your eye into thinking it is seeing a particular color. You can imagine that to get the effect of a 300 dpi true color photo, you would need the capability to print much smaller C,Y,M dots. This is why you see ink-jet DPIs in the thousand range. With dye-sub, you get a true continuous tone color at 300 dpi.

Sorry if I can't explain it well.
