Is this editing software any good? does it deal with raw files? how does it compare with gimp or picasa?

PhotoPlus 6 is a free version of Serif's commercial software PhotoPlus X2. It's a good basic graphics editor but will not compare favorably to almost any of the commercial products available. But it is free, and all you have to do is download it from http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/sof...us/default.asp.

Give it a try. If you don't like it then delete it.

edit: I don't think you would be able to load RAW files with it.
