Default PSE 7 for idiots

Hi all, I am beyond dummies.
Got PSE7 and nada PP experience. I have used Picasa and FastStone up until now with really fairly decent results.
Can anyone recommend a book/tutorial that will help a rank beginner learn the software, showing what to do to achieve certain results, i.e. remove or change a background. Add or remove a person from a picture. Add a watermark.
I want to take the next step in post processing.

Download iTunes, even if you don't have an iPod. Goto iTunes store and do a search for Photoshop Elements tutorials. There are a lot of free ones available. They are quite helpful as a starter. Also, try a Google search - I found stuff at other sites that were great.

Good Luck!

Photoshop Element 2 used to come with a booklet. I am not sure if Photoshop Element 7 comes with one. If not, there should have some electronic guide (PDF?) included. It is a good way to get started.

I have PSE 3, and it came with a pretty good set of tutorials in the help section. A lot of it seemed to be aimed at scrapbooking/collages, etc., but there is some good basic info on retouching as well. I'm pretty sure it included the topics you mentioned.

One book that helped me learn PSE5 was Scott Kelby's The Photoshop Elements 5 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter). What helped me the most is that Scott actually shows and gives you real life settings to help guide you through the examples he illustrates. I repeatedly refer to this book compared to Photoshop Elements 5: The Missing Manual, which is more like a very good text book, but it does not have the ability to illustrate the techniques as well.

I would recommend Scott Kelby's book for PSE7. I also have Scott Kelby's Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 book, because I wanted to see what features LR2 had before I purchased program, which from reading book I have decided not to upgrade to LR2.
