Hi what features will not be included in photoshop elements 8 that are in photoshop CS4? And will there be any different features for myself being a mac user. I just cant justify spending 150 on Photoshop CS4 with a student discount!

Here's a pretty cool demo of upcoming features in PhotoShop. Not sure what version this will be in.

I purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 a while ago when I had a point and shoot camera. I never used it. I have since upgraded to a DSLR Canon Xti and wanted to know whether I should use the 4.0 or upgrade to the newer 8.0. Costco, with coupon, is currently offering 8.0 for $50.00. I really need a program that is user friendly. Thanks for your help!

Go for it. You can't go wrong for $50.00.

Discouraging free download of Elements 8. You have to download a downloader and it took years. I had to abort it.

^^^ its not for discouraging downloads..
downloading through a downloader allows you to resume downloads in case the connection gets aborted which otherwise may not be possible in all the browsers

Maybe it's just that far fewer people are using the boards on here these days, but just FYI in case anyone is reading this very old thread - they are now up to Elements version 10 / Premier Elements 10 in stores.

As an added note about the full Photoshop CS5... Adobe isn't going to allow upgrade pricing ($199) any longer for people with older versions like CS3/4/etc... you have until December 31st 2011 to upgrade to CS5, if you want to be able to get the discounted pricing when CS6 comes out.

Adobe's statement on it and other things here: http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations...ml?PID=2159997
