Default Croping with ULead PhotoImpact

Cropping with ULead PhotoImpact

I’ve crop some images of my HP850 with the software ULead PhotoImpact and notice that the size of the JPEG file decrease from about 2,5Mb to 0,5Mb after the editing on ULead PhotoImpact.

I’ve printed both pictures on a shop, the edited and the non-edited, and both of them look very good to me.

So the question is, what have I lost when the size of the file decrease after editing on ULead PhotoImpact?

Well obviously you lost some information in the area you cropped out and remember this can be significant since the outside of a picture contains more pixels than the inside.

Also you might be set to a high jpg compression level. Do save as and click on options set the compression to 85 or better to reduce the loss.

If you want lossless save as tiff or ufo (the internal format).
