I have an Epson 1200U Photo scanner that supports up to 24 bit scans. I am using the Color Portrait setting that is set for 24 bit. If I scan it into Paperport in TIFF format, it is a 24 bit image. However, when I scan with Photoshop CS, it comes in as 8 bit image. Note that in PaperPort I indicate the image type prior to scan and in Photoshop CS, it simply scans and you later save in the desired format. I am not sure of the format of the initial scan in Photoshop, perhaps that is part of the issue... What do I have to do to have it come in as a 16 bit image in Photoshop CS?
