Default Wacom Intuos 2

I am considering purchasing a graphic tablet and need some advice. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Wacom Intuos 2. I am confused as to which size (4x5 or 6x8) would be most useful for photo retouching, illustration and digital painting. I primarily use Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10 and have a 21 inch monitor. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Also, any recommedations on where to purchase from (best price, reputable retailer)?

I looked at the Graphire 2, and Intuos 2. Major difference other than price is the Intuos 2 has 1024 level of pressure sensitivity versus 512 on the Graphire 2.
I was advised by some professional photographers and graphic artists to get at least a 6x8 tablet unless I did not have desk space, as I would quicky be frustrated with the 4x5.
The 6x8 Intuos 2 is pretty expensive ($349 MSRP), so instead I went with with Aiptek Hyperpen 12000U which is a 9x12 tablet that has an $149 MSRP. The research I did on it was pretty positive, though lacking some of the features of the Intuos 2, such as only 512 levels of sensitivity, requires a AAA battery (Intuos 2 doesn't use a battery), and the wireless pen does not automatically engage the eraser when turned upside down. If you can live with these shortcomings, and have the desk space I highly recommend the Aiptek, it's alot cheaper and seems to work great.
