Adapter to use a Nikon Flash on a Sony Alpha
I read in another forum that there is an adapter available that allows you to use a Nikon flash on a Sony Alpha series camera.

Do you know where I would find that adapter? Thanks!

This would let you mount most flashes:

But, there would be no communication between the camera and the flash except for triggering purposes using a dedicated flash that wasn't designed to be mounted on another camera (since communication protocols for dedicated flash models are unique to a given camera manufacturer's flashes)..

So, you'd want to use manual exposure on the camera, setting the camera and flash to match for ISO speed and aperture (assuming the flash you want to use has manual power settings and/or a non-TTL auto mode of some type using a built in sensor to measure reflected light based on the aperture and iso speed you set on the flash).

Thank you, so very much, JimC-

That is exactly what I was looking for:you see I want to match a Nikon SB-20 Flash to my A-200 and A-230 cameras. The SB-20 is a very decent flash, that is conveniently small and it still tilts nicely. There are many times when I do not want to carry my full size Sony external flash with me.

Note to JohnG- Yes, the size and weight of my kit really does matter to me, just like it does to JimC.

Have a great day JimC!
