I'm not sure it would be a safer bet -- it just has more features compared to the non Super model. Basically, if you want a flash that allows you to shoot at shutter speeds faster than the camera's x-sync speed (1/160 second with the A200), you'll need a model with HSS (High Speed Sync), which is often referred to as FP (Focal Plane Shutter) mode. The non-Super models in the Sigma lineup don't get that feature.

That's not a big deal for indoor photos. But, if you're shooting outdoors in brighter lighting at wider aperture settings, a flash that's able to shoot at faster shutter speeds can be helpful.

Okay. The metz seems to be up my alley: performs as well as an expensive model, but a lot cheaper.
