Did some playing around tonight with the 580's multi-flash feature. When I first got the camera I tried to play around with it, but didn't understand some of the fundamental concepts (ex: shutter-open-time has to be >= #flashes * period between flashes). :?:

I took these pictures of my boys playing basketball (figured that'd make a good action shot to capture multiple exposures of).

All of these pictures were taken with the 20D and the 17-85mm f/4-5.4 lens, on a tripod (you hafta use a tripod otherwise your stationary objects appear to be moving too! :? ) Flash was set to either 1/4 or 1/8 power (can't remember) and originall set to 5 flashes at 5Hz, and shutter speed of 1s. When the power level just wasn't quite enough, I upped the power, and it knocked my number of flashes from 5 to only 4. Lens at f22, and ISO400.

I haven't done any retouching at all, but looks like neat-image could clean 'em up quite a bit.

There's a couple more pictures at http://dev.mdmiller.com/gallery/20050220-basketball
