Default External Flash and using the NiMH Batteries.

No. I use Sanyo 2100mA AA's and they last me almost a whole wedding day. That would be an average of 200-300 flash shots, and I keep three spare sets of AA's and a set of 4 alkalines for further power backup. The only time I might not be able to use NiMH AA's in my flash units would be for extended outdoor work in very cold weather. In that case I'd keep the alkalines handy just in case the NiMH's die on me mid-job.
