Suggestions please for a flash for my Nikon D50. I was hoping to use my trusty old flash from my film days, but it died. Many thanks!

The best bang for your buck would be a Nikon SB-600 or the Sigma EF 500 Nikon compatible.

For what it's worth, I picked up the SB400 this weekend and love it! I am fairly new to DSLR so an expansive list of features I won't use for some time was not worth it for me. My goal was to get great indoor low light shots without forking out huge dollars for a fast lens.

What is the difference between an SB-600 and SB-400? I'm guessing price and some features. Will both work with a D-50?

What would be the best bet for to use for my Nikon D-40?
I can get SB400 for about £100, SB600 for about £150.00 Is the extra £50 worth going for and getting the higher model 600? |

I have the D50 and the SB600 which is a great combination. (I use a D200 & SB800 combination at work, which is awsome).
Anyway, if you can stretch to the SB800 you will have the option of wireless activation which you won't get with the SB600............the D50 'built in'doesn't operate as master or commander |
