I was thinking about picking up one of these flashes for my digital rebel. I curently have the Canon 420EX. Is the Sigma a better flash on the Canon than the 420EX?

How has it worked for you so far?

I have the Sigma and there are 3 basic benefits it has over the 420:

1. It can be a 'master' for slave flashes

2. It has greater power output - closer to that of the 550

3. Flash Exposure Compensation - kind of a must since I have a D-Rebel (which doesn't have it)

All this and it's not much more $ than the 420. So if you're looking for a second flash I would HIGHLY recommend this one.

You miss a couple more:

4. 2nd curtain sync (which you can enable from the flash)

5. Flash Exposure Bracketing (adjustable in 1/3-stop)

... and oh yeah it can sync to any studio strobe or camera with its built-in slave (which you can't do with either the 420EX or 550EX)!
