When I am using the flash I am on manual on my camera. f2.8 and 200 iso 100

I can't see the picture through the view finder as it is too dark.

Help what am I doing wrong?

FWIW, I think that the FZ20 has a serious design flaw in how it works in manual mode with an external flash. I can't imagine any reason whythe EVFhas to be so dark in manual mode, but can function perfectly appropriately at the same settings in another mode. I find this the biggest flaw in the FZ20.
