mecablitz 48 AF-1

I need your input on the Metz mecablitz 48 AF-1 ettl flash for Canon EOS cameras. I look a couple review online, it looks pretty good to me. It cost $200 and is lower in price than a canon 430EX II.($250)

WCKSer-

Generally speaking Metz flashes have an excellent reputation. I currently use the Metz CS-28 and I have used the Metz-36, which I returned as it was right on the edge for having sufficient power to bounce effectively.

The Metz 48 and above have a real advantage as they can be software upgraded. Some folks find the larger Metz flashes a bit complicated. However, I think you should be just fine if you order from somebody like Amazon that has a 30 day no questions asked, return policy.

Have a great day.

I have the 48, and it is a very powerful flash, it works great, and at 50 buck lower then the canon 430ex II, it was a steal. Also it is made in Germany, not china. It does feel well made. The ettl work great with my T1i.

Also it has a built in bounce card and defuser like the 530exII while the 430exII only has a built in defuser and require you to pack a bounce card.

I have read about the software upgrade on the Metz flash. Not that I can't do it, I just simply don't want to bother with it. I got the Canon 430EX II instead with a Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce Diffuser. It works pretty well and I don't have to worry about compatibility. Thanks for all the advices!
