I am looking seriously at the Canon G6 or the Sony Dsc-V3 but the camera itself is costly and I have a family of light eyed people (bad redeye). Is there a non Canon or Sony external flash that is less expensive but would work for this problem? Thanks

If any of you have input about a different camera. I shoot mainly runningwild siitehoundsand children, I would appreciate your input. I can't afford a dSLR.

you have to use manual mode or auto mode , generic flash won't give you ttl ("auto everything") like those dedicated flashes.
