Default Nikon F80/N80 with Metz Flash

I've got a Metz 40AF-4N unit for Nikon AF - but I note on the instructions no mention of the F80 the instructions list the unit as compatible with the F100/F90/F60/F50 and previous generations eg F801(N8008), F601(N6006) etc.

On Metz's web site I found reference to the F80/F65/F70/F5 with a recommendation that another model (32 MZ 3 or 54 MZ 3) be used.

I have put it on the F80 and all features appear operational.

Does anyone know why metz do not recommend this unit - what features of the F80 are being compromised??

It should work just fine. The N80 and the F80 are the same thing.
I have found that anything that works on N90 also works on 80s.
