Default Portable soft box

I hope I used the right term. I took a photog class recently and the teacher suggested we acquire a soft box for portrait pics. I would like to get one to work on my new Sony flash. I will be using the flash mounted on the hot shoe. As portable as possible.

Any softbox that is small enough that you can use it with the flash mounted on the hot shoe of your camera is not going to be big enough to be worth a darn. I would suggest getting a minimum 16x16 softbox along with a TTL cord or cheap radio trigger and a cheap tripod. That would actually do something useful for you. I've tried the tiny softboxes that you can use with them on your flash. They don't do anything for you. Might as well have bare flash or better just bounce off a wall or ceiling.
