Default ? recommend flash

I have a canon power shot A710 IS. what external flash would you recommend. Want to start taking more indoor pictures of family, especially new grand daughter and hopefully grandchildren to come????

I think for that one your choices are only the Canon HF-DC1 (amazon). It essentially doubles the light emitted from your flash. You can pick one up for about $100.

Maybe an option is a 2nd flashgun that has a 'slave' option
I use Yongnuo-460's for this purpose - held by an assistant at 45degrees to the subject and then activated by the camera's own flash. You can get them on-line for about $50 [dino-direct + other suppliers]

The ONLY option you have is a slave flash. The A710 IS doesn't have a hotshoe.
