Hi all,

I have been trying to figure out (for a few months now) lighting options.

As I have said in all my posts, I am really wanting to take only photos of my little girl and probably a few family shots.

I am looking into many options to get the best value for money...

Recently, I have been toying with the idea of buying speedlights instead of a monolight studio setup. The photos on this website are taken using 3 speedlights maximum: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jwlphotography/page2/

I would buy bounce through brollies and stands, and a few other bits and pieces as well...(I have seen a lot of people make their own stuff for speed lights: snoots, soft boxes etc...)

I like the idea of a speed light as they are portable, but can also be used in the studio.

Now brand wise, I am looking at Canon, Sigma or Nissin...

Of course Canon is the most expensive, with Sigma and Nissin similar in price...

Has anyone got any experience with any brand and a similar setup...
    Thanks again,
    Regards
    Alf...

    Hi Alf,

Go to Nikon and get a copy of a DVD called "The Speed of Light" by: Joe McNally. It is a very good informative DVD on the use of Nikon Speedlights. I think Amazon may have it at a discount price but I'm not sure.

PS: I just looked on Amazon and they do sell this DVD. $23.95
