Default stroboframe pro-t

I'm just a beginner. I just put my flash right on top of the cam. What is the advantage to using this bracket?

thanks

reference this page from tiffen/stroboframe. the flip capability is for when you shoot a horizontal or vertical. it keeps the strobe high and in the same location relative to the camera lens. note the shadows reduced. puts the flash further away to reduce/eliminate redeye
