I've used the mini-softbox in a lot of shooting situations. I have a freind with the Omni-Bounce that he doesn't use too much. I've never really asked him why (but he did complain that it was "too prone to red-eye, unless used totally as a bounce flash).

Read the information on both. The softbox is normally designed for straight-on shooting while the StoFen is more of a bounce unit (there have been issues with diffused flash affecting the auto sensors on some flash units using the StoFen straight-on). Neither is incredibly expensive so I have both in my arsenal for when the situation dictates.

I prefer the softbox myself, I think it spreads the light better for a much softer light. And if you don't have that low white ceiling or white wall to bounce the light off of then the bounce light doesn't help much.

I useLumiQuest Promax System (LQ-931D) with good results. Never seen red eye problems either with it.
