Hi All

With the advice of the forums here I got my first dslr camera, Pentax K100D

Now it's time for a extrenal flash and I have a few questions.

Will any external flash work?

Any suggestions on a flash thats good bacg for the buck?

I'm by no means a professional & would like something simple to operate

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Tim

With the Pentax line, you have your choice of the 360 or the 540 units. The 360 is a very nice unit, for about $250 before the rebate. It tilts one direction, has a bounce card built in and operates very nicely. The 540 is about $150 more money and rotates in 2 axis, and has a longer reach.

Sigma also has some out that work, but I wanted to stay with the pentax name for total compatibility.

I read that someone even took a Nikon flash, but it will only operate in Auto or M mode, not in TTL or PTTL modes.

Tim-

Earlier in the year I did a long tutorial on Flashes for the Pentax SLR Forum it had over 1,800 replies in it. So take a look at that first. Personally I use the Sigma EF-500 DG ST (PA-PTTL) designed for the exact kind of flash synch found on the K100D.
