I have a Nikon D80. Want to purchase a new flash. Besides the Nikon having the i-TTL and the wireless compatibility, has anyone had experience with the PZ40X? I feel I will probably just use the flash on the hot shoe of the camera. But I have been thinking it woulds always be nice to have the SB-600 just in case I would wantto experiment.

But for $50.00 would I be better with the PZ40X? Thanks for any help!

The Quantaray (Sunpak) PZ40X would seem to only support the older, less sophistcated D-TTL flash modes with your camera so it comes down to budget and where your priorities are. You have already indicated that you would like to experiment. I have the SB-600 for my D70s and I can assure you it's an excellent tool. The exposure is very accurate as well I have used the wireless on several occasions and felt it was worth the premium.

The SB600 is a very versatile tool, and its ability to be used off camera is a huge bonus. It's definitely worth the extra money. Nikon's creative lighting system is the best flash system in the industry, and IMO, no 3rd party flash can touch either the Sb600/SB800.

Thanks for getting back with me. I really had decided on the SB-600. But was just wondering if someone had used the Quantaray (PZ40X) and might have had good results with it. I will be buying the SB-600, knowing I will always have the ability to use the wireless capability.

Thanks

Kevin
